New Delhi : Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda will launch a series of major digital health initiatives on June 29 at Vigyan Bhawan, aimed at strengthening India’s digital public health infrastructure and improving access, interoperability and efficiency across the healthcare ecosystem.
Developed under the National Health Authority (NHA) and the National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS), the initiatives are designed to expand digital health services for citizens, healthcare providers, insurers and policymakers while accelerating the adoption of interoperable health systems across the country.
The launch will bring together state representatives, senior officials, healthcare leaders, technology partners and industry stakeholders to mark a key milestone in India’s digital health transformation.
Among the key offerings is Aarogya Setu 2.0, a revamped Personal Health Record (PHR) application that will serve as a single platform for multiple digital health services. It will enable users to create and manage ABHA accounts, access and share digital health records, receive AI-based health insights, use wearable integrations, and avail services such as OPD registration, digital payments, medication reminders, and family health management. It will also provide access to nearby healthcare facilities, ambulances, blood banks and Jan Aushadhi Kendras, along with services under PM-JAY.
A WhatsApp-based chatbot, Ayushman Sarathi, will also be introduced to provide beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme with easy conversational access to key services, improving last-mile delivery.
On the backend, several interoperability and infrastructure initiatives will be launched to streamline healthcare delivery and data exchange. These include the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) for standardised and faster insurance claims processing, and a utility to convert insurance plans into FHIR-compliant bundles to improve consistency across payers.
The Unified Health Interface (UHI) will also be expanded to connect citizens with healthcare providers through an open, interoperable network, improving access to medical services.
For healthcare providers, e-Sushrut Clinic will be launched as a plug-and-play digital clinic management system to support electronic health records and integration with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission ecosystem.
The government will also introduce the Drug Registry to standardise medicine-related data, enabling uniform coding across digital platforms and improving prescribing and dispensing accuracy.
To strengthen data standardisation, the Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI) and the Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS) will be launched, enabling uniform laboratory coding and common healthcare terminologies to support seamless data exchange across systems.
Together, these initiatives aim to enhance interoperability, improve data quality and strengthen India’s Digital Public Infrastructure for Health, advancing the vision of accessible, affordable and inclusive healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
